Every kid deserves
a chance to tee it up.

Fairway Futures is a Vancouver non-profit in formation, dedicated to giving underprivileged youth across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland free access to golf — and the life-changing lessons the sport teaches.

Founding Phase

Fairway Futures is currently in formation. We are incorporating under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act and applying for CRA registered charity status. We are building the foundation before we open our doors.

Golf changed lives.
Just not everyone's.

Golf is one of the most values-rich sports in the world. It teaches patience, integrity, accountability, resilience, and mental discipline — qualities that carry young people far beyond the fairway and into every area of their lives.

But in Metro Vancouver, access to golf has long been limited to those who can afford it. A junior membership, equipment, and green fees can cost a family thousands of dollars a year. For a household living close to the poverty line, that conversation never starts.

Fairway Futures exists to change that. We believe the lessons golf teaches belong to every young person — regardless of what their family earns, where they grew up, or what they look like.

"The sport doesn't care about your postal code. We're making sure the door is open for every kid who wants to walk through it."

The Cost Barrier

A junior golf membership in Metro Vancouver runs thousands of dollars a year before a single lesson or round. For families near the poverty line, golf simply doesn't exist as an option. Fairway Futures removes every one of those costs — for free.

The Awareness Gap

Many young people in underserved communities have never seen the inside of a golf course. Without exposure, the sport stays invisible — and so does every opportunity it opens. We bring the game to the communities where it's never been.

The Missing Model

In the United States, First Tee has served millions of young people through golf and life skills education. Canada has no equivalent. Fairway Futures is purpose-built to fill that gap — and to grow until every province is served.

What we
stand for.

"To provide underprivileged youth in the Vancouver Lower Mainland access to golf, teaching life skills, resilience, integrity, and opportunity through the game."

Golf is more than a sport. It is a classroom without walls. It teaches young people how to handle adversity, compete with integrity, manage their emotions under pressure, and carry themselves with confidence and respect.

At Fairway Futures, we use the game as a vehicle for character development. Every clinic, every lesson, and every round is an opportunity to build something that lasts long after the clubs are put away.

Free youth golf programs
across Metro Vancouver.

Every program Fairway Futures offers is built around one idea: remove every barrier and let the game do the rest. All programming in Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland will be completely free to participants — instruction, equipment, and green fees included.

Programs below reflect our planned model. Active programming begins following our official launch in 2026.

Beginner Golf Clinics

Six to ten week introductory programs at partnered municipal and private courses. Every participant receives instruction, equipment, and uniforms — completely free of charge, no exceptions.

🏆

Junior Development

Year-round development for youth who show commitment and want to grow their game. Includes advanced coaching, tournament entry support, and mentorship matching.

💡

Life Skills Workshops

Goal-setting, communication, financial literacy, and career exploration — embedded directly into golf programming and delivered by volunteer professionals from across our community.

🤝

Mentorship & Networking

Youth matched one-on-one with mentors from business, law, medicine, and trades — adults who share a love for golf and a genuine commitment to helping the next generation find their path. These relationships often become the most lasting part of the program.

🏫

School Outreach

Partnerships with Lower Mainland school districts to bring golf fundamentals into PE classes and after-school programs. We go where young people already are, so the sport finds them — not the other way around.

Standing on the
shoulders of giants.

First Tee is the most successful youth golf non-profit in history. Founded in the United States in 1997, it has grown into a national institution that has introduced millions of young Americans to the game — and to the values that come with it.

The First Tee model works because it understands something profound: golf is not the point. The person the game builds is the point.

Canada has never had an equivalent. No national organization has made it its mission to bring golf — and the character it develops — to young Canadians who could never otherwise access it.

Fairway Futures is being built to be exactly that. We are adapting the First Tee model for Canadian communities, Canadian demographics, and Canada's unique golf landscape — starting in Vancouver, growing until every province is represented.

A clear path
from here to national.

Fairway Futures is being built the right way. Before we open our doors, we are laying the legal, governance, and partnership foundations that will allow us to serve young people properly and sustainably from Day 1.

We are not in a rush. We are in the business of getting this right. Every step we take in the founding phase is designed to make the program stronger and more impactful for every year that follows.

The Long-Term Vision

By Year 7–10, Fairway Futures aims to be Canada's equivalent of First Tee — a nationally recognized non-profit delivering life-changing golf programs to thousands of Canadian youth annually, in every province, with a model that can sustain itself and grow for generations.

Underprivileged youth
across the Lower Mainland.

Fairway Futures serves youth aged 8–17 in Metro Vancouver who would never otherwise access golf. We prioritize young people facing the greatest barriers — from East Vancouver to Surrey to Burnaby — and are committed to growing until every underserved community in BC is reached.

🧒 Youth We Prioritize

  • Youth from households at or below 80% of the BC Low Income Cut-Off
  • First Nations and Indigenous youth across the Lower Mainland
  • Recent immigrant and refugee families new to Canada
  • Youth in the BC child welfare system
  • Young people from communities with historically low golf participation
  • Children from single-parent households with limited extracurricular access

🗺️ Where We Start

  • City of Vancouver — East Van, Strathcona, and surrounding communities
  • Surrey — one of BC's most diverse and fastest-growing cities
  • Burnaby, Richmond, Delta, and New Westminster
  • Through school districts, community centres, and social worker referrals
  • Expanding to Victoria, Kelowna, and further as the model matures
  • Eventually — every province in Canada

"There are over 43,000 low-income youth aged 8–17 in the Metro Vancouver area alone. We are starting here, with the young people in our own backyard — and we are committed to growing until every Canadian kid who wants to play has a way in."
